Summary

This novel will place you in the middle of a famous Bible story about a Roman centurion's faith. Healing the centurion’s servant is one of Jesus’s miracles told in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. According to these accounts, a Roman centurion asks Jesus for help because his servant is desperately ill. Jesus offers to go to the centurion’s home to perform a healing, but the centurion believes that Jesus’s word of authority will be sufficient. Jesus is impressed by the faith of this man who happens to be a Gentile. He grants the help and heals the servant that same day.

Since the true back story of the centurion is unknown, we have to use our imaginations to create a story for this extraordinary man. In this book, our journey starts with the Great Roman Civil War (49– 55 BC) that ultimately ended with Caesar in full control of Rome, and then it visits the conflict between Mark Antony and Octavian. You will learn what life was like in the Roman Army, and you will also experience how the ordinary people of the time lived. You will meet many historic characters—Caesar, Mark Antony, Cleopatra, Octavian, and Herod—and religious figures of the day, most notably Rabbi Hillel and Rabbi Shammai. In short, you will learn how it was to live in the first century during the time of Jesus.

Today, the words of the centurion are often used in prayers throughout the churches of the world, and the story of the centurion's faith is perhaps more important now than ever. We live in a world filled with harsh realities and little faith. This novel will give you hope.
